Here's the simple version: bergamot itself may gently lower blood sugar. Troglitazone (Rezulin) already does that job, so stacking the two could push your sugar lower than you want. That can show up as shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, dizziness, or feeling foggy and irritable.

I want to be honest about how strong this concern is, though. The evidence here is theoretical, drawn mostly from animal studies on bergamot juice, not solid human data. A splash of bergamot in food or tea is unlikely to matter much. A concentrated daily supplement is where I'd pay closer attention. If you'd like to try bergamot, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your blood sugar numbers.
