Dronabinol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with.

Theoretically, BMPEA might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA inhibits CYP3A4 by up to 37%.

Here's the gist for dronabinol (Marinol or Syndros). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break it down. Lab studies suggest BMPEA can partly block that enzyme, by around a third in test-tube research. If that happens in real life, dronabinol could clear more slowly and build up, leading to stronger than expected effects like dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, a racing heart, or feeling 'high' or anxious.

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based on pharmacology and lab data, not on studies in people. On top of that, BMPEA is an unapproved stimulant with real heart concerns, so pairing it with dronabinol is something I'd run by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing.

What Is Dronabinol Used For?

Brand names: Marinol, Syndros

Dronabinol — available as capsules (Marinol, Dronabinol) and as an oral solution (Syndros, Dronabinol oral solution) — is approved for two conditions in adults. First, it treats anorexia (severely reduced appetite) associated with weight loss in patients with AIDS. Second, it controls nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy in patients who have not gotten enough relief from standard anti-nausea treatments.

Both uses apply to all available formulations, but dosing timing and meal instructions differ between the capsule and oral solution products. Always follow the specific instructions for the product you have been prescribed.
