Here's the gist for Farydak (panobinostat). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break this cancer medicine down. Lab studies suggest BMPEA can slow that enzyme a bit (by roughly a third in a test tube). If that happens in real life, panobinostat could clear more slowly and build up in your system, which may mean stronger side effects like low blood counts, diarrhea, nausea, tiredness, or heart rhythm changes.

I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on lab data, not proven in people. But panobinostat is a serious chemo drug, and BMPEA is an unapproved stimulant that's best avoided anyway. Please run this by your oncologist or pharmacist before mixing them.

What Is Panobinostat Used For?

  • Panobinostat is used in combination with bortezomib (Velcade) and dexamethasone to treat people with multiple myeloma (a type of cancer of the bone marrow) who have already been treated two other medications, including bortezomib (Velcade). Panobinostat is in a class of medications called histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors. It works by killing cancer cells.
