STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Pseudoephedrine, Triprolidine
Acetaminophen, Pseudoephedrine, Triprolidine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Bitter Orange interacts with.
Bitter orange appears to have stimulant effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to watch with Actifed Plus ES: one of its ingredients, pseudoephedrine, is itself a decongestant stimulant that can nudge up your heart rate and blood pressure. Bitter orange contains synephrine, which acts a lot like adrenaline and does the same thing. Stack the two together and those stimulant effects can add up.
In real life that could mean a racing or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, headache, or a rise in blood pressure. This concern is mostly theoretical and rated moderate, so it's not a guaranteed reaction, but if you have high blood pressure or any heart issues, it's worth being careful. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, rather than changing anything on your own.

About Bitter Orange
What is Bitter Orange?
- Weight loss
- Athletic performance and energy
- Digestive upset
- Appetite control
- Aromatherapy for stress (neroli oil)
Bitter orange is a citrus fruit whose extracts contain synephrine, a mild stimulant often added to weight-loss and energy supplements. Evidence that it works for weight loss or performance is limited, and because it can raise heart rate and blood pressure, people with heart problems, high blood pressure, or who are pregnant should avoid it. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you take other stimulants.
