Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Bitter Orange in 2 different ways. STIMULANT DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate
Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Bitter Orange interacts with.
Bitter orange appears to have stimulant effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: Adderall is already a stimulant. It revs up your heart rate, blood pressure, and alertness on its own. Bitter orange contains synephrine, a milder stimulant that works in a similar way. So when you stack the two together, you're essentially pressing the same gas pedal twice.
The concern isn't that bitter orange changes how your body processes Adderall. It's that the two add up. That could mean a faster or pounding heartbeat, a bigger jump in blood pressure, jitteriness, anxiety, or trouble sleeping. This is rated a moderate interaction, and the evidence is partly theoretical, so it may not happen to everyone. Still, it's worth being cautious, especially if you have any heart or blood pressure issues. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that octopamine, a constituent of bitter orange, weakly inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the bigger picture with Adderall and bitter orange. On paper, a compound in bitter orange called octopamine might slightly slow down CYP2D6, one of the liver enzymes that helps clear amphetamine. If that happened, a bit more of your Adderall could hang around, which in theory could nudge up the usual stimulant effects like a faster heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or a racing feeling.
But I want to keep this honest: this is only seen in lab dishes, not in real people, and the effect looks weak. What concerns me more is that bitter orange is itself a stimulant, so stacking it on top of Adderall can add to that pounding-heart, blood-pressure load. Please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Bitter Orange
What is Bitter Orange?
- Weight loss
- Athletic performance and energy
- Digestive upset
- Appetite control
- Aromatherapy for stress (neroli oil)
Bitter orange is a citrus fruit whose extracts contain synephrine, a mild stimulant often added to weight-loss and energy supplements. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you take other stimulants.
