STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate
Amphetamine Aspartate, Amphetamine Sulfate, Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Ephedra interacts with.
Drugs with CNS stimulant properties might increase the risk of hypertension and the adverse cardiovascular effects of ephedra.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: Adderall is already a powerful stimulant, and ephedra (ma huang) is too. Stacking two stimulants together doesn't just add up, it can pile on. Both speed up your heart and tighten your blood vessels, so combining them can push your blood pressure and heart rate higher than either one alone. That raises the odds of real trouble like a racing or pounding heartbeat, chest pain, severe anxiety or jitteriness, and in the worst cases dangerous spikes in blood pressure or stroke.
To be straight with you, the formal evidence here is mostly anecdotal and theoretical, but the risk makes good biological sense and the potential harm is serious. On top of that, ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements for safety reasons, so I wouldn't use it at all. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything stimulant-like with your Adderall.
