Insulin (rDNA) falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ephedra interacts with.

Theoretically, taking ephedra with antidiabetes drugs might interfere with blood glucose control.
One study in animals shows that some components of ephedra may lower blood glucose levels. However, most human research suggests that ephedra and ephedrine, a component of ephedra, can raise blood glucose levels and might decrease the effectiveness of drug therapy. Monitor blood glucose concentrations closely.

Here's the practical concern with combining ephedra and your insulin. The stimulants in ephedra (mainly ephedrine) tend to push your blood sugar up. That can work against what your insulin is trying to do, so your numbers may run higher than usual and your insulin could feel less effective. In other words, ephedra may partly fight your treatment.

The flip side matters too: insulin's main risk is low blood sugar, and if you stopped ephedra suddenly, your readings could swing the other way. Watch for signs of highs (thirst, frequent urination) or lows (shakiness, sweating, confusion). Honestly, ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements for good safety reasons. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything like this with insulin.

What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?

Brand names: Humalog, Humalog Mix 75/25, Humulin R, Humulin N, Humulin L, Humulin 50/50, Humulin 70/30, Humulin U, NovoLog, Velosulin, Novolog Mix 70/30, Actrapid, Humulin S, Insuman Rapid

Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Humalog Mix75/25 is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus; it is a fixed-ratio mixture of insulin lispro and insulin lispro protamine, and its fixed proportions do not allow for separate adjustment of basal (background) and prandial (mealtime) doses.
