Insulin (Human) falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ephedra interacts with.

Theoretically, taking ephedra with antidiabetes drugs might interfere with blood glucose control.
One study in animals shows that some components of ephedra may lower blood glucose levels. However, most human research suggests that ephedra and ephedrine, a component of ephedra, can raise blood glucose levels and might decrease the effectiveness of drug therapy. Monitor blood glucose concentrations closely.

Here's the short version: insulin lowers your blood sugar, but ephedra's main stimulant (ephedrine) tends to push it back up. When your body is in 'fight or flight' mode, your liver dumps out more sugar and your cells respond less well to insulin. The worry here is that ephedra could work against your insulin, leaving your readings higher than expected. In most people the effect leans that way, though one animal study oddly showed the opposite, so the picture isn't perfectly clear.

Honestly, the bigger issue is that ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements because it can raise blood pressure and strain the heart. I wouldn't recommend it. If you're considering anything like this, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and watch your blood sugars closely.

Novolin (human insulin injection) is used to improve glycemic control — meaning blood sugar management — in adults and children with diabetes mellitus.

Novolin 70/30 is a fixed-ratio mixture of intermediate-acting and short-acting human insulin. Because the ratio is fixed, it cannot be adjusted separately for background (basal) or mealtime (prandial) needs.
