Estradiol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Ephedra interacts with.

Theoretically, ephedra might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Some animal research suggests that ephedra induces CYP1A2 and increases the clearance of CYP1A2 substrates such as caffeine.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break down estradiol. Some animal studies hint that ephedra (ma huang) may speed that enzyme up. If that happened in people, your body could clear estradiol a little faster, which might make it work less well. In practice that could mean your menopause symptoms creep back, like vaginal dryness, irritation, or hot flashes if you're using a product that treats those.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical and only based on lab and animal data, so it's far from certain. Estradiol isn't a prodrug, so faster breakdown means less effect, not more. The bigger concern is simply that ephedra itself is banned and risky for your heart and blood pressure. Please don't use it, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor about safer choices.
