Here's the concern with this pairing. Clobazam (Onfi, Sympazan) is a benzodiazepine that calms overactive electrical signals in the brain to keep seizures under control. Ephedra works in the opposite direction. Its stimulant compounds (ephedrine and pseudoephedrine) rev up the nervous system, and ephedra has actually been linked to reports of seizures. So the worry is that ephedra could partly work against what Clobazam is trying to do, making seizures harder to control.

To be fair, this is a theoretical interaction based on how these two behave, not on solid studies, so I don't want to overstate it. But ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements for good reason, and lowering seizure protection is a serious risk. Please don't change anything on your own. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor about safer options.

Clobazam is used as an add-on (adjunctive) treatment for seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), a severe form of childhood-onset epilepsy. It is approved for patients 2 years of age and older.

This indication applies to all available forms: Sympazan (dissolving oral film), Onfi (tablets and oral suspension), and generic clobazam tablets and oral suspension.
