Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Vonoprazan, Amoxicillin
Vonoprazan, Amoxicillin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Boswellia Serrata interacts with.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Other in vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes at most concentrations, although it may modestly induce enzyme activity at low concentrations.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with Voquezna Dual (the vonoprazan plus amoxicillin combo used for heartburn and certain stomach infections). The concern on file is purely theoretical. In lab dish studies, boswellia appears to block an enzyme called CYP3A4, and vonoprazan is partly handled by that same enzyme. If that blocking happened in your body, vonoprazan levels could drift up a bit, which might mean slightly more side effects like headache, diarrhea, or constipation. The amoxicillin part isn't really affected, since it leaves the body mostly through the kidneys.
Honestly, this is a low-stakes worry, and it's based on test-tube data, not real patients. Still, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor so they can give you the personal green light.
