Here's the gist with your birth control pill (the combo of ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate). In animal studies, Bridelia ferruginea showed mild estrogen-like activity, though it was much weaker than the estrogen in your pill. The thought is that adding its own hormonal nudge could, in theory, throw off the careful hormone balance your pill relies on.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. This concern comes only from lab and animal work, not from people, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. It's not expected to make your pill stronger or weaker in any predictable way. Still, since your pill prevents pregnancy and steady hormones matter, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Bridelia rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.
