Acebutolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Bridelia interacts with.

Animal research suggests that Bridelia extracts decrease arterial pressure. Theoretically, concomitant use of Bridelia with antihypertensive drugs might have additive blood pressure lowering effects.
Some antihypertensive drugs include nifedipine (Adalat, Procardia), verapamil (Calan, Isoptin, Verelan), diltiazem (Cardizem), isradipine (DynaCirc), felodipine (Plendil), amlodipine (Norvasc), and others.

Here's the simple version: Acebutolol already works to lower your blood pressure and slow your heart rate. Bridelia, in animal studies, also seemed to nudge blood pressure downward. So the worry is that the two together could stack up and push your numbers too low.

If that happened, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, unusually tired, or notice your pulse running slow. Standing up quickly could make you feel faint. Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based mostly on lab and animal work, not strong human data, so I don't want to alarm you. Acebutolol isn't a prodrug, so this is just an additive effect, not a metabolism problem. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, and monitor your blood pressure.

What Is Acebutolol Used For?

Brand names: Sectral, Rhotral

Acebutolol Hydrochloride capsules are used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. They can be used on their own or alongside other blood pressure medications, particularly thiazide-type diuretics.

They are also used to treat ventricular premature beats — extra, out-of-rhythm heartbeats that originate in the lower chambers of the heart. Acebutolol reduces how often these abnormal beats occur, including complex patterns that can be more concerning.
