Your patch (Ortho Evra) delivers two hormones, a progestin called norelgestromin and a small amount of estrogen (ethinyl estradiol). Here's what we know about Bridelia: in lab and animal studies, it showed mild estrogen-like activity, though weaker than the estrogen in your patch. The concern is purely theoretical at this point, meaning no human studies have shown a real problem.

In plain terms, a plant with its own weak estrogen effect could in theory nudge your hormone levels and possibly affect things like breakthrough bleeding or how the patch works. Since the evidence is so thin and your patch is doing important work (including birth control), I'd just have a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Bridelia. Don't change anything on your own.
