In animals, orally administered extracts of Bridelia ferruginea stem bark inhibit ADP/adrenaline-induced thrombosis by approximately 62%.Theoretically, Bridelia might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.

Here's something worth flagging. The interaction on file is really about Bridelia's possible blood-thinning effect, seen only in animal studies where it slowed clot formation by roughly 62 percent. That's why our database pairs it with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs. Selumetinib (Koselugo) isn't a classic blood thinner, but it can lower platelet counts and cause bleeding or easy bruising on its own.

So in theory, stacking Bridelia on top could add to that bleeding risk, think nosebleeds, gums bleeding, or bruises that show up easily. I'd stress this is theoretical and based on animal data, not proven in people. Still, with a serious medicine like selumetinib, please loop in your child's oncology team or pharmacist before adding Bridelia.

What Is Selumetinib Used For?

Brand name: Koselugo

Koselugo (selumetinib) is approved for adults and children 1 year of age and older who have neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) — a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow on nerve tissue — when they also have symptomatic, inoperable plexiform neurofibromas (large, deep nerve tumors that cannot be surgically removed and are causing problems).

Both the Koselugo capsule and Koselugo oral granule formulations are approved for this use. The oral granule form is intended for patients who have difficulty swallowing whole capsules.
