Buchu may have antiplatelet effects. Theoretically, buchu may enhance the effects of anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs and increase the risk of bleeding in some patients. The thing to watch here is the aspirin part of your combo pill. Aspirin already thins the blood by making platelets less sticky, which is how it helps prevent clots. Buchu is thought to have its own mild blood-thinning action, so taking the two together could, in theory, add up and make you bleed or bruise a bit more easily. Think easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or a small cut taking longer to stop.

I want to be honest that this is based on weak, anecdotal evidence, not solid studies, so it's more of a 'keep an eye out' than a red alert. The codeine side isn't really involved in this one. Before adding buchu, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor.
