Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate, Phenobarbital falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INDUCERS — the group Butterbur interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inducers might increase the toxicity of butterbur.
The pyrrolizidine alkaloid (PA) constituents found in some butterbur products are substrates of CYP3A4. Theoretically, drugs that induce CYP3A4 might increase the conversion of PAs to toxic metabolites.

Here's the thing to know about this combination. The phenobarbital part of this medicine is a well-known liver enzyme booster, meaning it can speed up the CYP3A4 pathway. Butterbur, especially products that still contain natural pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), gets processed by that same pathway. Theoretically, speeding up that enzyme could push more of those PA compounds into toxic byproducts that can harm the liver.

I'll be honest: this concern is based on how these substances behave in the lab, not on real patient reports, so it's more of a caution than a proven danger. The bigger safeguard is simple. Only use PA-free butterbur, since that removes the risky compounds entirely. Before mixing butterbur with this medicine, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
