Atorvastatin Calcium falls under GLUCURONIDATED DRUGS — the group Calcium D-glucarate interacts with.

Theoretically, calcium D-glucarate might increase the clearance of drugs that undergo glucuronidation.
The calcium D-glucarate metabolite, D-glucaro-1,4-lactone, inhibits the enzyme beta-glucuronidase, reducing deconjugation of glucuronides in the intestine and thereby reducing reabsorption of the drugs.

Here's the idea with Calcium D-glucarate and your atorvastatin. Your liver tags certain compounds with a sugar molecule (glucuronidation) so you can get rid of them. Calcium D-glucarate may block an enzyme in the gut (beta-glucuronidase) that would otherwise un-tag those compounds and let them get reabsorbed. In theory, that means less of the drug returns to your bloodstream, so your atorvastatin could be cleared a bit faster.

What that might look like in real life is a slightly weaker cholesterol-lowering effect over time, rather than new side effects. Keep in mind this is mostly theoretical and based on limited research, so for most people it's a minor concern. Still, check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting the supplement, and keep up with your routine cholesterol bloodwork.

What Is Atorvastatin Used For?

Atorvastatin is used alongside a healthy diet to lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol, triglycerides (blood fats), and other harmful lipids, while raising HDL ("good") cholesterol. It treats primary hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), mixed dyslipidemia (mixed abnormal blood fats), hypertriglyceridemia (high triglycerides), and inherited conditions such as heterozygous and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia — including in children aged 10 and older.

Beyond cholesterol control, atorvastatin is used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, revascularization procedures, and angina (chest pain) in adults with coronary heart disease or multiple risk factors for it — including adults with type 2 diabetes who have risk factors for heart disease even without a confirmed heart disease diagnosis.
