Dronedarone falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Camphor interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of camphor with other hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.
There have been a few case reports of transient elevations in liver enzymes in adults after oral or topical use of camphor. There has also been one case of hepatotoxicity in an infant after topical camphor use.

Here's the thing to know about dronedarone (Multaq): it already carries a warning about being hard on the liver. In rare cases it has caused serious liver injury on its own. So the concern with camphor is simply piling one liver stressor on top of another. Camphor has been linked to occasional bumps in liver enzymes, even when rubbed on the skin, so in theory the two together could add up.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how each one behaves, not proven cases of the combination. Still, watch for warning signs like yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness. Before using a camphor rub, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Camphor is a strong-smelling compound from the camphor tree (or made synthetically) that is used in many topical rub-on products for muscle aches, itching, and chest congestion. What Is Dronedarone Used For?

Brand name: Multaq

Multaq (dronedarone) tablets are used to reduce the risk of being hospitalized for atrial fibrillation (AF) — an irregular, often rapid heart rhythm. It is approved for adults who are currently in normal sinus rhythm but have a history of paroxysmal (comes and goes) or persistent atrial fibrillation.

Multaq is not appropriate for everyone with AF. It must not be used in people with permanent atrial fibrillation or in those with recently worsened heart failure requiring hospitalization — these patients face a doubled risk of death, stroke, and hospitalization if they take it.
