These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with whole categories of medication. Effient falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Cannabinol (cbn) in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Effient
Effient falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.
In vitro research shows that cannabinol potently inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the wrinkle with Effient (prasugrel): it's a prodrug, meaning your body has to switch it on before it can thin your blood. That activation runs mainly through enzymes like CYP3A4 and CYP2B6, not so much CYP2C9. So even though lab studies hint that CBN can block CYP2C9, that particular pathway isn't the main one that turns Effient into its active form, which makes a big interaction less likely on paper.
Still, I'd be cautious. This is only test-tube data, never confirmed in people, but CBN comes from cannabis and product quality is all over the map. Since Effient already raises bleeding risk, watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, and please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

CYTOCHROME P450 2B6 (CYP2B6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Effient also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2B6 (CYP2B6) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that cannabinol potently inhibits CYP2B6 enzymes.
That activation leans mostly on liver enzymes, with CYP2B6 playing a part. The concern on file is that CBN may block CYP2B6 in lab tests. If that blocking happened in a real person, it could slow how Effient turns into its active form, which might mean less clot protection, not more.
For someone using Effient after a heart attack or stent, weaker effect is a real worry. That said, this is purely a test-tube finding so far, never seen in people. I wouldn't panic, but please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding CBN.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Effient page
“Effient (prasugrel) keeps platelets from forming clots, usually after a stent or a heart attack, and I would not pair supplements with it casually. Roughly 200 ingredients on this list can thin the blood further and raise bleeding risk, including two of the five rated major.”

What is Cannabinol (cbn)?
- Sleep support
- Relaxation
- Pain or discomfort
- Appetite-related concerns
Cannabinol (CBN) is a minor cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant, often marketed as a 'sleep' aid, but solid human research is very limited. About Prasugrel
What Is Prasugrel Used For?
Brand name: Prasugrel
Prasugrel is used to reduce blood clot–related heart events, including clots forming in a stent (stent thrombosis). It is for people with acute coronary syndrome who are going to be treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI, a procedure to open blocked heart arteries).
This includes people with unstable angina or a non-ST-elevation heart attack (NSTEMI), and people with an ST-elevation heart attack (STEMI) treated with primary or delayed PCI. Both Effient and generic Prasugrel tablets carry this use.
