Lesinurad falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.

Theoretically, cannabinol might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that cannabinol potently inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for lesinurad (Zurampic): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to help break it down. Lab studies suggest CBN can block that same enzyme. If that happened in real life, lesinurad could build up a bit higher than usual, which in theory might raise the chance of side effects like kidney-related problems (lesinurad already carries a warning about kidney issues), headache, or reflux.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is only seen in test-tube research, and it has not been reported in actual people taking it together. So it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Since CBN products vary a lot in quality, I'd still loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and keep up with your scheduled kidney and uric acid bloodwork.

What Is Lesinurad Used For?

Brand name: Zurampic

  • Lesinurad is used in combination with a xanthine oxidase inhibitor to treat hyperuricemia (high levels of uric acid) in people with gout (sudden attacks of redness, swelling, pain, and heat in one or more joints) whose disease is not controlled with their current medication. Lesinurad is in a class of medications called selective uric acid reabsorption inhibitors. It works by helping the kidneys to remove uric acid from the body.
