Linagliptin, Metformin Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Chirata interacts with.

Theoretically, taking chirata concomitantly with antidiabetes drugs may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In non-fasted animals pretreated with the hypoglycemic drug tolbutamide, taking chirata 250 mg/kg decreased blood glucose levels. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.

Here's the gist: Jentadueto XR already lowers your blood sugar by combining linagliptin and metformin. Chirata, a very bitter herb, has shown some blood-sugar-lowering activity of its own in lab and animal studies. Stack the two together and there's a chance your sugar could dip lower than intended, which we call hypoglycemia.

If that happened, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, irritable, or get a fast heartbeat. To be clear, this concern comes from animal research, not solid human studies, so it's more theoretical than proven. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding chirata, and checking your glucose a bit more closely if you do. Please don't change your diabetes medicine on your own.
