Ibuprofen, Oxycodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Clove interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of clove may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that eugenol, the principal constituent of clove, can inhibit CYP2D6 in a dose-dependent manner. This effect has not been reported in humans.

This combination pill pairs ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory) with oxycodone (an opioid painkiller). The piece that touches clove here is oxycodone, which the body partly processes through a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Lab studies suggest eugenol, the main oil in clove, can slow this enzyme down. If that happened in people, slightly more of oxycodone could convert to its stronger active form, oxymorphone, possibly nudging up effects like drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, nausea, or slowed breathing.

Here's my honest take: this is only seen in test-tube research, not in real patients, so it's largely theoretical. Normal cooking amounts of clove are very unlikely to matter. If you regularly use concentrated clove oil or supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

Combunox combines ibuprofen with oxycodone, and oxycodone is the piece that leans on the CYP3A4 enzyme to be broken down. In lab dishes, eugenol (clove's main compound) has slowed that enzyme. If that happened in people, oxycodone could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean stronger effects like extra drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, constipation, or slower breathing.

Here's the honest part: this is only seen in test-tube studies, not in actual patients, so it's theoretical. The clove in your cooking or a holiday ham almost certainly won't matter. Concentrated clove oil or daily clove supplements are the bigger question. Before pairing those with this medicine, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Theoretically, topical application of clove oil with ibuprofen might increase the absorption and side effects of topical ibuprofen.
Laboratory research shows that topical application of clove oil increases the absorption of topical ibuprofen. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: this one is mostly theoretical, and it only really applies to topical products. In lab studies, clove oil seemed to help skin soak up more ibuprofen when the two were applied together. Since your medication, Combunox, is a swallowed tablet that combines ibuprofen with oxycodone, putting clove oil on your skin isn't going to change how your pill works in any meaningful way.

There are no human reports of a problem here, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Normal cooking amounts of clove are a non-issue. If you ever plan to use concentrated clove oil on your skin near a topical ibuprofen gel, just run it by your pharmacist first to be safe.

This Combunox combo pairs two medicines: ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever) and oxycodone (an opioid). The piece that matters here is the ibuprofen, because like other NSAIDs it can make platelets a little less sticky and slightly raise bleeding risk on its own.

Clove contains eugenol, and in lab studies that compound showed some blood-thinning activity. On paper, stacking clove on top of ibuprofen could nudge that bleeding risk up a bit, think easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach irritation. But this is only theoretical and hasn't actually been seen in people. The clove in your cooking won't matter; concentrated clove oil or supplements are the only real concern. If you use those regularly, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up.
