Bosentan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Coca interacts with.

Theoretically, coca might reduce the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research suggests that coca and the coca constituent cocaine have hypertensive effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of coca with antihypertensive drugs might interfere with blood pressure control and decrease the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.

Here's the simple version: coca leaves contain cocaine and related stimulant alkaloids that tend to raise blood pressure and tighten your blood vessels. Bosentan (Tracleer) works in the opposite direction, helping relax and widen the vessels in your lungs so blood flows more easily. So putting coca on top of bosentan could partly cancel out the benefit you're working so hard to get.

For someone with pulmonary arterial hypertension, that's a real concern, because you want those lung vessels to stay open. The good news is this is mostly a theoretical worry based on coca's known stimulant effects, not strong studies in PAH patients. Still, I'd steer clear of coca products and check with your doctor or pharmacist before trying anything new.

Coca is a South American plant best known as the natural source of cocaine. While the leaves have a long history of traditional use for altitude sickness, fatigue, and hunger, the whole plant contains cocaine and other alkaloids that make it legally controlled and potentially dangerous in most countries. Only decocainized (cocaine-free) coca extract is used in foods, and there is little reliable evidence to recommend coca as a supplement.

What Is Bosentan Used For?

Brand name: Tracleer

Bosentan is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. In adults, it helps improve the ability to exercise and slows how quickly the disease gets worse.

In children aged 3 years and older with idiopathic (no known cause) or congenital (present from birth) PAH, bosentan is used to lower resistance in the lung blood vessels, which is expected to improve exercise ability. Tracleer is one brand approved for both adults and pediatric patients with PAH.
