Here's the simple version: cod liver oil, thanks to its omega-3 fats, can gently nudge your blood pressure down on its own. Losartan (Cozaar) already lowers blood pressure, so combining the two can have an additive effect and push your numbers lower than you'd expect.

For most people this is mild, but watch for signs of blood pressure dropping too far: dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, feeling tired, or a headache. The evidence here is fairly modest, and everyday food amounts of fish are unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplement doses are where you'd want to pay closer attention. If you take cod liver oil regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your readings. Don't change your losartan on your own.

About Losartan

What Is Losartan Used For?

Brand name: Cozaar

Losartan tablets — available as branded Cozaar and several generic products — are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children 6 years and older. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Losartan tablets are also used to reduce the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure who also have left ventricular hypertrophy (an enlarged left side of the heart). Note: evidence suggests this stroke-risk benefit may not apply to Black patients.

Losartan tablets are additionally approved to protect the kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and signs of kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy). Arbli, the oral suspension form, shares these same approved uses.
