Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP3A4.

Here's the gist if you're using testosterone (like Androgel or Testim) and thinking about adding Corydalis yanhusuo. Your liver partly clears testosterone using an enzyme called CYP3A4. This herb contains berberine, which can mildly slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more testosterone linger in your system, nudging effects and side effects up slightly (think oily skin, acne, mood changes, or fluid retention).

I want to be honest with you: this is a theoretical concern based on lab work, not strong human studies, so it may not amount to much in real life. Still, since hormone levels are something your doctor monitors, mention the herb to your pharmacist or prescriber before combining them so they can keep an eye on things.

What Is Testosterone Used For?

Brand names: Intrinsa, Testim, Androgel, Andropatch, Testogel, Nebido, Delatestryl, Natesto, Vogelxo

Testosterone replacement therapy is used in adult males whose bodies do not produce enough of their own testosterone. This includes primary hypogonadism — where the testes themselves fail due to causes such as Klinefelter's syndrome, injury, chemotherapy, or surgical removal — and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, where the brain's signaling system (the hypothalamus or pituitary gland) fails to trigger testosterone production.

Testopel (subcutaneous pellets) may also be used to stimulate puberty in carefully selected males with clearly delayed puberty. The safety and efficacy of testosterone for age-related (late-onset) hypogonadism have not been established for most products, including AndroGel, Testim, Jatenzo, Kyzatrex, Natesto, Depo-Testosterone, Testosterone Cypionate, and Xyosted.
