Here's the gist for naproxen specifically. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to break naproxen down and clear it out. Corydalis yanhusuo may contain berberine, which in early research can slow that same enzyme. If it does, naproxen could clear a bit slower and build up in your system, meaning a slightly stronger effect and a higher chance of the usual naproxen downsides like stomach upset, heartburn, stomach irritation or bleeding, fluid retention, or raised blood pressure.

I'll be honest though, this is a theoretical concern based on lab pharmacology, not real patient studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since both can be hard on the stomach, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the gist for naproxen and Corydalis yanhusuo. Naproxen is a common anti-inflammatory (NSAID), and on its own it can already nudge up your bleeding risk by making platelets a little less sticky and by being a bit rough on the stomach lining. Corydalis contains compounds (including berberine) that, in lab and animal studies, also appear to slow platelet clumping. Stacked together, the theory is that they could add up and make bleeding or bruising a touch more likely.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is based on test-tube and animal data, not solid human studies, so it's a theoretical concern rather than a proven one. Still, keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, dark stools, or stomach upset, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Naproxen

What Is Naproxen Used For?

Brand names: Naprosyn, Naprelan, Anaprox, Anaprox DS, Naproxyn, Navalbine, Naproxen, Naprosyn EC, Napro-Na, Aleve, Arthroxen, Synflex, EC-Naprosyn

Naproxen tablets, naproxen sodium tablets, and naproxen oral suspension are used to relieve the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis. They are also used for tendonitis, bursitis, and acute gout, and for managing pain and primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps).

Naproxen Sodium Controlled-Release Tablets are indicated for the same conditions plus the relief of mild to moderate pain. Several over-the-counter naproxen sodium products are indicated for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains from headache, backache, muscular aches, toothache, menstrual cramps, minor arthritis pain, and the common cold, and to temporarily reduce fever.
