Clindamycin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP3A4.

Here's the gist: your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down clindamycin. Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine, which lab studies suggest can mildly slow that same enzyme. If it does, clindamycin could clear a little more slowly and build up slightly, which in theory might mean a bit more of its usual side effects, like nausea, stomach upset, or diarrhea.

I want to be honest with you, though: this concern is theoretical. It comes from test-tube and early research, not from real cases of people running into trouble. So it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor, but it isn't a reason to panic. Don't change anything on your own. A short chat is the safest way to be sure you're in the clear.

Clindamycin is prescribed for serious infections caused by certain bacteria — including anaerobic bacteria (bacteria that thrive without oxygen), streptococci, staphylococci, and pneumococci. It's often chosen when penicillin-type antibiotics can't be used, such as in people with a penicillin allergy.

It can treat infections of the lungs, skin and soft tissue, bloodstream, abdomen, and female reproductive organs. Because it carries real risks, doctors reserve it for infections where safer antibiotics aren't appropriate.
