Hydrochlorothiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Animal research suggests that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, a clinical study suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also reduce blood pressure.

Here's the gist for your water pill, hydrochlorothiazide. This combo isn't about the supplement changing how your body breaks the drug down. Instead, corydalis may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. Stack that on top of hydrochlorothiazide, which already lowers blood pressure and pulls extra fluid out through your urine, and the two could add up.

If your pressure dips too low, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or wobbly when you stand up, especially in the morning. I'll be honest though, this concern is theoretical, based on how corydalis behaves in lab and animal studies, not solid human proof. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and checking your blood pressure at home doesn't hurt.

About Hydrochlorothiazide

What Is Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Esidrix, Hydro, Microzide, HydroDiuril, Hydro-D, Oretic, Aquazide H, Aquazide, HCTZ

Hydrochlorothiazide treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children, either alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks.

It also treats edema (fluid buildup) linked to congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis (liver scarring), and kidney conditions including nephrotic syndrome. Hydrochlorothiazide tablets are additionally indicated for edema caused by corticosteroid or estrogen therapy, and edema from acute glomerulonephritis or chronic renal failure. Inzirqo (the oral suspension) is specifically approved for both hypertension and edema in adult and pediatric patients.
