These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with whole categories of medication. Triazolam falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Corydalis Yanhusuo in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CNS DEPRESSANTS
1 of 2Why this applies to Triazolam
Triazolam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Corydalis Yanhusuo interacts with.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Animal research suggests that berberine may have sedative effects. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also have CNS depressants effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Triazolam (Halcion) is a benzodiazepine that already calms down your nervous system to help you fall asleep. Corydalis yanhusuo may have its own mild calming, sleepy-making effect according to early lab and animal studies. So the concern here is simple addition: two things pulling in the same direction. Taken together, you could feel more drowsy than expected, plus things like next-morning grogginess, dizziness, trouble concentrating, poor coordination, or feeling unsteady on your feet.
I want to be honest that this is a theoretical interaction based on how these compounds behave, not on strong human studies. Still, since Triazolam is a strong sleep aid, it's worth being cautious. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, and don't change your Triazolam on your own.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Triazolam also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP3A4.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with these two. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear triazolam (Halcion) out of your system. Corydalis contains berberine, which lab studies and some early human research suggest can slow that same enzyme down. If it does, your triazolam could break down more slowly and build up higher than expected.
For a sleep medication, that usually means too much of a good thing: heavier drowsiness, grogginess that lingers into the next morning, dizziness, confusion, or trouble with balance and coordination. I'll be honest though, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on how these compounds behave, not on solid human trials together. Still, since triazolam is potent and short-term, it's worth running past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

- Pain relief
- Menstrual cramps
- Headache
- Stress and sleep support
- Stomach and abdominal discomfort
Corydalis yanhusuo is a traditional Chinese herb used mainly for pain. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
About Triazolam
What Is Triazolam Used For?
Brand names: Halcion, Triazo, Apo-Triazo, Gen-Triazolam, Mylan-Triazolam, Novo-Triolam, Nu-Triazo
Triazolam tablets are approved for the short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. Treatment is generally intended for 7 to 10 days. Halcion (a brand of triazolam) is specifically indicated for this same short-term use in adults.
Using triazolam for more than 2 to 3 weeks requires a full re-evaluation by your doctor to rule out an underlying medical or psychiatric condition driving the sleep problem.
