Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Clinical research shows that berberine may lower blood glucose levels. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also lower blood glucose levels.

Here's the gist: Corydalis yanhusuo may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. Some of its compounds, including a bit of berberine, have been shown in research to nudge blood sugar down. When you stack that on top of your pork insulin, which is already lowering your glucose, the two together could push your numbers lower than you expect.

That raises the chance of a low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) episode, with things like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling confused. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how the herb behaves, not proven in people taking insulin. Still, if you decide to use Corydalis, check your sugars more closely and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first before changing anything.
