Here's the gist of it. Your inhaler, formoterol, is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Corydalis contains berberine, which lab studies suggest can slow that same enzyme down. If the enzyme works slower, a little more formoterol could linger in your body than usual.

For formoterol, that might mean its typical side effects feel a bit stronger, things like a fast or pounding heartbeat, shaky hands (tremor), nervousness, headache, or a dip in potassium. I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab work, not proven in people taking this combo. Still, since formoterol affects the heart, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Corydalis. Please don't change your inhaler on your own.

Here's the gist for your Foradil or Perforomist inhaler. Corydalis contains berberine, which lab studies hint may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. The theory is that if that enzyme runs slower, a drug it clears could build up a bit. With formoterol, more in your system could mean more of the usual beta-agonist effects: a racing or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness or shakiness, and headache.

That said, I want to be honest about how shaky this connection is. It's purely theoretical, based on how the herb behaves in a lab, not on real people using these together. Since your inhaler matters for your breathing, I wouldn't change anything. Just run the herb past your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Formoterol Oral Inhalation

What Is Formoterol Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand names: Foradil Aerolizer, Atimos Modulite, Oxis Turbohaler, Perforomist, Foradil Certihaler

Formoterol fumarate inhalation solution is used for the long-term maintenance treatment of airway narrowing (bronchoconstriction) in adults with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is taken twice daily — morning and evening — as a regular, ongoing treatment.

Important limits: This medication is not for relieving sudden COPD flare-ups or breathlessness in the moment, and it is not approved to treat asthma. A separate short-acting inhaler should always be on hand for sudden symptoms.
