Here's the gist: Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine, a compound that some studies show can nudge blood sugar a little lower on its own. Since sitagliptin (Januvia) is already working to bring your blood sugar down, stacking the two could, in theory, push your numbers lower than expected. That might show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or feeling foggy, which are the classic signs of low blood sugar.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this concern is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave rather than on solid human studies pairing them. Sitagliptin alone rarely causes lows. Still, if you'd like to try corydalis, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.

What Is Sitagliptin Used For?

Brand names: Januvia, Zituvio

Sitagliptin is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is available as tablets (Januvia, Zituvio, and generic sitagliptin products) and as an oral solution (Brynovin), all approved for this same use.

Sitagliptin is not for type 1 diabetes. It has not been studied in people with a history of pancreatitis, so its safety in that group is unknown.
