Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Losartan Potassium
Losartan Potassium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Cubebs interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's a wrinkle worth knowing about losartan: it's actually a prodrug. Your body uses liver enzymes (mainly CYP2C9, with some help from CYP3A4) to turn losartan into its more powerful active form. So this isn't a simple "drug builds up" situation.
Lab studies suggest compounds in cubebs may slow CYP3A4. In theory, blocking that enzyme could mean slightly less of losartan's active form gets made, which might make it a touch less effective at controlling your blood pressure. But honestly, this concern comes only from test-tube research, has never been shown in real people, and the spice amount you'd use in food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated cubeb extracts or oils are a different story, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before using those.

About Cubebs
What is Cubebs?
- Coughs and bronchitis
- Indigestion and gas
- Urinary tract complaints
- Sore throat
- Culinary spice
Cubebs are spicy, peppery berries from a vine in the pepper family that have long been used in traditional medicine for coughs, digestion, and urinary problems. Modern human studies are very limited, so its benefits are not well proven. Use it cautiously as a food spice, and talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated extracts or oils.
About Losartan
What Is Losartan Used For?
Brand name: Cozaar
Losartan tablets — available as branded Cozaar and several generic products — are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children 6 years and older. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Losartan tablets are also used to reduce the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure who also have left ventricular hypertrophy (an enlarged left side of the heart). Note: evidence suggests this stroke-risk benefit may not apply to Black patients.
Losartan tablets are additionally approved to protect the kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and signs of kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy). Arbli, the oral suspension form, shares these same approved uses.

Losartan Potassium Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Losartan Potassium as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Cubebs — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
