Here's the simple version. Aluminum hydroxide works by neutralizing stomach acid, which is what calms that burning heartburn or sour stomach feeling. The concern with cubebs is that these peppery berries may nudge your stomach to make a little more acid. If that happens, your antacid could feel like it's working a bit less, so you might still notice some heartburn or indigestion lingering.

I want to be honest with you though: this is only a theoretical concern based on weak, anecdotal reports. A pinch of cubeb as a spice almost certainly won't matter. Concentrated extracts or oils are more of a question mark. If you're using both regularly and not getting relief, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

Aluminum hydroxide is used in two distinct ways depending on the product. The oral liquid form relieves heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach.
