Eliglustat falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the thing with Eliglustat (Cerdelga): your body clears it largely through an enzyme called CYP3A4. There's some early, anecdotal evidence that DHEA might slow that enzyme down a bit. If it does, your eliglustat could clear more slowly and build up to higher levels in your blood.

Why does that matter? Eliglustat at higher levels can affect your heart's electrical rhythm (a longer QT interval), and you might notice more side effects like headache, dizziness, fatigue, or stomach upset. I want to be honest, though: this interaction is mostly theoretical and not well proven. Since eliglustat's dosing is sensitive to CYP3A4, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding DHEA rather than guessing.

About Eliglustat

What Is Eliglustat Used For?

Brand name: Cerdelga

Cerdelga (eliglustat) is used for the long-term treatment of Gaucher disease type 1 in adults. Gaucher disease type 1 is a genetic condition in which a fatty substance called glucosylceramide builds up in organs like the liver, spleen, and bone marrow, causing them to enlarge and leading to problems like anemia and low platelet counts.

Cerdelga is only appropriate for adults whose bodies process the drug in a predictable way — specifically those identified as CYP2D6 extensive metabolizers (EMs), intermediate metabolizers (IMs), or poor metabolizers (PMs) by an FDA-cleared genetic test. People who are CYP2D6 ultra-rapid metabolizers may not reach drug levels high enough to benefit, and Cerdelga is not recommended for them.
