Prednisone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here is the basic idea. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down prednisone. Some early lab hints suggest DHEA might slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened, prednisone could clear a little more slowly and build up slightly, which in theory could mean stronger steroid effects like fluid retention, higher blood sugar, mood swings, trouble sleeping, or stomach upset.

That said, I want to be honest with you: this is theoretical and based only on weak, anecdotal evidence. We do not really know if it matters in real life. It is not a reason to panic. Still, since DHEA acts like a hormone and prednisone is a powerful one too, it is worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
