Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Ixekizumab
Ixekizumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Elderberry interacts with.
Elderberry has immunostimulant activity, increasing the production of cytokines, including interleukin and tumor necrosis factor.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with Taltz (ixekizumab). This medication works by quieting down a part of your immune system (it blocks a signal called interleukin-17) to calm the inflammation behind plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Elderberry seems to do the opposite in lab studies, nudging the immune system to make more inflammatory signals like interleukins and TNF.
So in theory, elderberry could work against what your injection is trying to accomplish, possibly making your skin patches or joint symptoms flare back up. I want to be honest though: this is mostly theoretical and based on weak evidence, not real patient studies with Taltz. It's not a dangerous combination, but before you add elderberry, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist so you don't unknowingly undercut your treatment.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ixekizumab page
“Echinacea, the herb people reach for at the first sniffle, is on this list for the same reason as everything else here. Ixekizumab (Taltz) treats psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis by quieting an overactive part of the immune system, and echinacea is taken precisely to fire the immune system up.”

About Elderberry
What is Elderberry?
- Colds
- Flu (influenza)
- Other respiratory infections
- Immune support
- Sinus and upper respiratory symptoms
Elderberry is a popular herbal supplement, mainly taken to help with colds and flu. Some small studies suggest it may modestly shorten cold or flu symptoms, but the evidence is limited and not conclusive. Cooked berries and properly prepared products are generally well tolerated, but raw or unripe parts can cause nausea and should be avoided.
