This combination product contains aspirin, which already thins the blood a bit by keeping platelets from clumping together. The concern here is with the aspirin piece specifically. Lab and animal research suggests that rutaecarpine, one of the compounds in evodia, can also slow platelet activity. So in theory, pairing the two could add up and raise your chances of easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop.

That said, this is a theoretical worry built on test tube and animal data, not human studies, so it's far from certain. Still, since you're taking a daily aspirin-containing medicine, it's worth running the idea of an evodia supplement past your pharmacist or doctor first before combining them.

Animal research shows that concomitant administration of dexamethasone, a known CYP3A4 inducer, with the alkaloid constituents of evodia significantly reduces the area under the curve (AUC), maximum concentration (Cmax), and half-life of these constituents.

Here's the key thing about this combo: the interaction runs in one direction, and it affects the evodia, not your medicine. The phenobarbital in this product is a well-known liver enzyme booster (a CYP3A4 inducer). That means if you take evodia alongside it, your body may break down evodia's active compounds faster, lowering their levels. So evodia would likely become weaker, not stronger. Your aspirin, codeine, and phenobarbital effects should stay about the same.

Honestly, this is mostly theoretical, based on animal data, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger point is that this is a serious medication overall, and evodia isn't well studied in people. Run it by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.
