PHENYTOIN (Dilantin)

Theoretically, fenugreek might decrease plasma levels of phenytoin.
Animal research shows that taking fenugreek seeds for 1 week decreases maximum concentrations and the area under the curve of a single dose of phenytoin by 44% and 72%, respectively. This seems to be related to increased clearance. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the situation with fenugreek and your phenytoin (Dilantin). Phenytoin is a seizure medicine with a narrow safety window, meaning the amount in your blood has to stay in a fairly tight range to work right. Lab and animal studies hint that fenugreek may speed up how fast your body clears phenytoin, which could pull your blood levels down. If that happened, the medicine might not control seizures as well as it should.

The good news is this has only been seen in animal research, never confirmed in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The small amount used in cooking is very unlikely to matter. Still, before starting fenugreek supplements, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
