Here's the simple version: certain fermented milk products may nudge your blood pressure down a little on their own. Your Capozide already lowers blood pressure (the captopril relaxes your vessels and the water pill, hydrochlorothiazide, sheds extra salt and fluid). Stack the two and, in theory, your numbers could dip a bit more than expected.

To be clear, this is a theoretical interaction based mostly on how these things work, and the blood pressure drop seen in research was modest and mainly affected the top number. Most people won't notice a thing. Just keep an eye out for lightheadedness, dizziness when you stand up, or feeling unusually tired. If that happens, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
