Dalteparin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Flaxseed interacts with.

Theoretically, using flaxseed in combination with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of bleeding.
Some clinical evidence suggests that the oil contained in flaxseed can decrease platelet aggregation.

Dalteparin is an injectable blood thinner, so its whole job is to lower your blood's ability to clot. Flaxseed isn't a powerful blood thinner, but the oil in it (rich in ALA omega-3s) may make platelets a little less sticky. Stack that gentle effect on top of dalteparin and, in theory, you could tip a bit further toward easy bruising or bleeding.

To be fair, this is mostly a theoretical and modest concern, and the evidence is on the weaker side. Eating flaxseed in normal food amounts is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated flaxseed oil supplements are where I'd be a little more cautious. Watch for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, pink urine, or bleeding that won't stop, and please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a supplement.

Flaxseed is a nutritious food rich in fiber, omega-3 fats (ALA), and plant compounds called lignans. It is most reliably helpful for constipation and may modestly lower cholesterol, but evidence for many other uses is mixed or limited. It is generally safe as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it as a supplement, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

About Dalteparin Injection

What Is Dalteparin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Fragmin

Fragmin (dalteparin) injection is used to prevent blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT) in people having hip replacement or abdominal surgery, and in hospitalized patients who are largely immobile due to acute illness. It is also used to reduce ischemic complications — meaning clot-related events — in people with unstable angina or a type of heart attack called non-Q-wave MI, when given alongside aspirin.

Fragmin is approved for the extended treatment of symptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE — blood clots in the veins or lungs) in adults with cancer, to reduce the chance of clots coming back, for up to six months. It is also approved to treat symptomatic VTE in pediatric patients from birth (at least 35 weeks gestational age) onward. Fragmin is not intended for the acute (immediate emergency) treatment of VTE.
