Flaxseed + Semaglutide
Semaglutide brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy.
Flaxseed has a moderate interaction with Semaglutide. Theoretically, flaxseed might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk for hypoglycemia.

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Semaglutide
Semaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Flaxseed interacts with.
Some clinical research suggests that flaxseed can lower blood glucose levels.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist: both flaxseed and semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus) can nudge your blood sugar downward. Semaglutide works by helping your pancreas release insulin when sugar is high, and some studies suggest flaxseed can modestly lower glucose too. Stack them together and the effects may add up, which could push your numbers a little lower than expected.
This is mostly a theoretical concern, and the evidence behind flaxseed's sugar-lowering is on the weaker side. Eating flaxseed as a food (a spoonful on yogurt or oatmeal) is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplement doses are where I'd pay closer attention, especially if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. Watch for shakiness, sweating, or dizziness, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a flaxseed supplement.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Semaglutide page
“Semaglutide (Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy) lowers blood sugar, and so do most of the 256 supplements on this page, which is why I read this list with real vigilance rather than a shrug. Nearly all of the entries either add to its glucose-lowering effect and raise the risk of hypoglycemia, or push sugar the other way and blunt it, as niaci…”

About Flaxseed
What is Flaxseed?
- Constipation and digestive health
- High cholesterol
- Heart health
- Menopausal symptoms
- Blood sugar support
Flaxseed is a nutritious food rich in fiber, omega-3 fats (ALA), and plant compounds called lignans. It is most reliably helpful for constipation and may modestly lower cholesterol, but evidence for many other uses is mixed or limited. It is generally safe as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it as a supplement, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
About Semaglutide
What Is Semaglutide Used For?
Brand names: Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy
Semaglutide is used for several conditions, depending on the product. Wegovy is used with a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity to reduce excess body weight and keep it off long term. It is also used to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart-related death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke) in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight.
Wegovy injection is also used for adults with noncirrhotic MASH (a fatty liver disease) with moderate to advanced liver scarring, and for weight management in children 12 and older with obesity. Ozempic is an injection used with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It also lowers the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. Ozempic is not for type 1 diabetes.

Semaglutide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Semaglutide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Flaxseed — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
