Garcinia + Buspirone
Buspirone brand name: BuSpar.
Garcinia has a moderate interaction with Buspirone. Theoretically, combining garcinia with other serotonergic drugs might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
SEROTONERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Buspirone
Buspirone falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.
In one report, a patient experienced serotonin syndrome after taking garcinia extract (60% hydroxycitric acid) 1000 mg daily in combination with escitalopram 20 mg, which had been taken for a year. The patient was switched to sertraline 50 mg daily and again experienced serotonin syndrome.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Buspirone gently nudges up serotonin activity in your brain to ease anxiety. Garcinia has been linked, in a small number of reports, to too much serotonin when paired with other serotonin-boosting medicines. Stacking the two could, in theory, push serotonin a little too high.
If that happened, you might notice things like restlessness, a racing heart, sweating, shakiness, muscle twitching, or feeling unusually agitated. To be clear, this is based on weak, anecdotal evidence (a couple of case reports with antidepressants, not buspirone itself), so it's far from certain. Still, since Garcinia offers little proven benefit and has its own liver concerns, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Buspirone page
“I counsel genuine caution when supplements meet buspirone (BuSpar), the anxiety medication, because four of its 155 documented interactions are rated major. The bulk of the list, 121 ingredients, changes how your liver clears buspirone through the CYP3A4 enzyme, pushing its level up toward dizziness and drowsiness or down until the anx…”

- Appetite suppression
- Curbing sugar and carb cravings
- Supporting metabolism
- Traditional cooking and souring agent
Garcinia is a tropical fruit whose rind contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA), widely marketed for weight loss and appetite control. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have liver issues, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
About Buspirone
What Is Buspirone Used For?
Brand name: BuSpar
Buspirone tablets and capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or to relieve anxiety symptoms in the short term. Its effectiveness has been shown in clinical trials focused on Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) — a condition marked by persistent, hard-to-control worry along with physical symptoms like muscle tension, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and sleep problems.
Buspirone has also been shown to relieve anxiety in people who have mild depressive symptoms alongside their anxiety. Everyday stress and tension, on their own, generally do not require treatment with a medicine like buspirone.
