Metoclopramide Hydrochloride falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.

Theoretically, combining garcinia with other serotonergic drugs might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome.
In one report, a patient experienced serotonin syndrome after taking garcinia extract (60% hydroxycitric acid) 1000 mg daily in combination with escitalopram 20 mg, which had been taken for a year. The patient was switched to sertraline 50 mg daily and again experienced serotonin syndrome.

Here's the concern when Garcinia and metoclopramide (Gimoti) are taken together. Metoclopramide can nudge serotonin activity in the body, and Garcinia has been linked, in rare reports, to extra serotonin effects too. Stack them and you could, in theory, raise the odds of too much serotonin building up. That can show up as agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, tremor, muscle twitching, or confusion.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It's mostly theoretical, and the one real case involved Garcinia with antidepressants, not this drug. Food amounts of the fruit are very unlikely to matter; concentrated supplements are the real question. Before adding Garcinia, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Metoclopramide Nasal Spray Used For?

Brand name: Gimoti

Gimoti (metoclopramide nasal spray) is approved for adults with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis — a condition where diabetes damages the nerves controlling stomach emptying, causing nausea, vomiting, and bloating. It works to relieve those symptoms by helping the stomach empty more normally.

Gimoti is not recommended for children, or for adults with moderate to severe kidney or liver disease. It is also not recommended for adults taking strong CYP2D6 inhibitor medications (certain antidepressants and other drugs that slow how the body breaks down metoclopramide).
