Rabeprazole Sodium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group German Chamomile interacts with.

Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking German chamomile.

Here's the simple version: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear rabeprazole (Aciphex). In lab dishes, German chamomile appears to slow that enzyme down a bit. If it did the same thing inside the body, rabeprazole could linger a little longer and its effects could be slightly stronger. For an acid-reducing medicine like this, that might mean a touch more of the usual mild side effects, things like headache, nausea, or stomach upset.

But here's the reassuring part: this is only seen in test-tube studies, not in real people, and it has never actually been reported as a problem in patients. Chamomile tea is generally gentle. If you take concentrated chamomile supplements regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Brand names: Aciphex, Aciphex Sprinkle

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
