ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS

Amlodipine, Celecoxib falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Animal research shows that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, an analysis of clinical research shows that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone. However, this effect has not been reported with goldenseal.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your Consensi pill combines two medicines: amlodipine, which lowers blood pressure, and celecoxib, an anti-inflammatory for pain. The piece that matters here is the amlodipine. Goldenseal contains berberine, and some research suggests berberine can nudge blood pressure down on its own. So in theory, pairing it with a blood pressure medicine could push your numbers a little lower than expected.
If that happened, you might notice dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling tired, or a faint feeling when you stand up. I'll be honest with you though, this is mostly theoretical and tied to concentrated berberine, not goldenseal specifically. It isn't a reason to panic. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding goldenseal, and keep an eye on how you feel.

CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
2 of 3Amlodipine, Celecoxib also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that goldenseal root extract can modestly inhibit CYP2C9. This effect may be due to its alkaloid constituents, hydrastine and berberine. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Consensi pairs two medicines, and the one that matters here is celecoxib, the anti-inflammatory part. Your liver clears celecoxib mainly through an enzyme called CYP2C9. In lab dish studies, goldenseal (from its berberine and hydrastine) seems to slow that same enzyme down a bit. If that happened in your body, celecoxib could build up and you might notice more of its usual side effects, like stomach upset, heartburn, fluid retention, or swelling. The amlodipine half could also push some ankle swelling.
The key word is theoretical. This was only seen in test tubes, never confirmed in real people, so it may not amount to much. Still, since both Consensi and goldenseal can cause swelling, I'd run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
3 of 3Amlodipine, Celecoxib also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Most clinical and in vitro research shows that goldenseal inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity and increases serum levels of CYP3A4 substrates, such as midazolam. However, in one small clinical study, goldenseal did not affect the levels of indinavir, a CYP3A4 substrate, in healthy volunteers. This is likely due to the fact that indinavir has a high oral bioavailability, making it an inadequate probe for CYP3A4 interactions and/or that it is primarily metabolized by hepatic CYP3A, while goldenseal has more potential to inhibit intestinal CYP3A enzyme activity. Both goldenseal extract and its isolated constituents berberine and hydrastine inhibit CYP3A, with hydrastine possibly having more inhibitory potential than berberine.

Consensi combines two medicines, amlodipine (a blood pressure pill) and celecoxib (an anti-inflammatory for pain), and both pass through a liver and gut enzyme called CYP3A4. Goldenseal tends to slow that enzyme down. Neither drug is a prodrug, so slowing their breakdown means more of each can build up in your blood, basically making their effects stronger.
For amlodipine, that could show up as dizziness, flushing, headache, ankle swelling, or blood pressure dropping too low. For celecoxib, higher levels can mean more stomach upset or, with regular use, added strain on the kidneys or blood pressure. The evidence here is real but modest, so don't panic. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding concentrated goldenseal supplements.
