Chlorothiazide, Reserpine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Animal research shows that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, an analysis of clinical research shows that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone. However, this effect has not been reported with goldenseal.

Diupres is a two-in-one blood pressure pill: chlorothiazide is a water pill (diuretic), and reserpine helps relax the body's pressure-raising signals. Goldenseal contains berberine, which in animal studies and some human research (paired with other blood pressure drugs) has its own mild blood-pressure-lowering effect. So the worry here is simple addition: the herb plus your medicine could push your numbers down a little too far.

Honestly, this is a theoretical concern based on how berberine behaves, not on cases reported with goldenseal itself. Still, watch for dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, or feeling faint when standing up. If you take Diupres and want to try goldenseal, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on your readings.
