Cyclothiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Animal research shows that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, an analysis of clinical research shows that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone. However, this effect has not been reported with goldenseal.

Here's the gist if you're taking Cyclothiazide (a thiazide-type water pill used to lower blood pressure) and thinking about goldenseal. Goldenseal contains berberine, and in animal studies berberine has been shown to nudge blood pressure downward on its own. So the worry is simple addition: two things pulling your blood pressure in the same direction could push it a little too low.

If that happened, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or woozy when standing up quickly. I'll be straight with you though, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on how berberine behaves, not on real reports with goldenseal itself, so it's not something to panic over. Still, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before adding goldenseal, and let them know if you feel faint.
