Insulin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Clinical research shows that berberine can lower blood glucose levels. However, this effect has not been reported with goldenseal.

Here's the simple version: goldenseal contains berberine, and in studies berberine on its own has nudged blood sugar downward. Insulin already lowers your blood sugar, so the worry is that stacking the two could push your numbers too low. That could show up as the usual signs of low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or feeling lightheaded.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is a theoretical concern based on how berberine behaves, and the blood-sugar-lowering effect has not actually been reported with goldenseal itself. So I'm not telling you to avoid it. If you do try goldenseal, check your sugars a bit more closely at first and loop in your pharmacist or doctor before starting.
